Well, we're out of the house now, the renters are in place, and we're doing the cruising thing!! It was about 3 weeks of intense work, a bunch of retirement partying, visits from my sister and friends, but we did it. We just spent a week at Port A tying up loose ends, of which there were many. Many trips to the storage shed, trips to the house for the renters, an unexpected last minute termite situation (remedied) and lots of miles put on the Honda, which my brother took to Atlanta last Saturday. We left Port A Monday morning and spent the night at Matagorda Harbour. It was a pretty miserable first day out; winds gusting to 35 knots, rough bays and a sick cat. Today was better; only 15 knots of wind and a trip to Offuts Bayou. The water in the ICW was like thick mud until we passed Freeport. The trip across the Brazos River was memorable, lots of debris in the water and intense currents. But we're on the hook now near Galveston and plan to make a relatively short run (5 Hours) tomorrow to Clear Lake, where we will stay for about 6-7 days or until the wood is done. We've already arranged to borrow Annie's car while we're there to do some last minute shopping and pick up the life raft which is being serviced.
I hope to update the blog about once a week if able; we've had some trouble getting on line these last two nights, I think due to the remote areas. But I will try to keep you all up to date.
Thanks to everyone for all their help the last week. You guys have been great as usual. And thanks for all the well wishes we received from all of our ex fellow employees. The parties were perfect.
Keep in touch you all; the e-mail working great!! Call at 8pm.......
